Marcos Lopez is an associate in AVILA’s Banking & Financial Services department, where he focuses on counseling clients through a wide range of regulatory compliance matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lopez worked within the collateralized loan obligation and CMBS compliance department at Starwood Property Trust. His experience also includes Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, and Customer Identification Program. He also served as an associate at a large certified public accounting and consulting firm, where he carried out compliance audits addressing bank regulatory requirements such as OFAC compliance.
Mr. Lopez graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
