DARLENE BARRON

Ms. Barron is a partner and co-leader of AVILA’s Intellectual Property practice, where she represents clients in a wide range of patent, intellectual property, and trademark disputes.   

As a registered patent attorney, Darlene focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation in Patent, Trademark, Copyright and Trade Secrets matters, and intellectual property prosecution in the U.S. and abroad. She also assists clients with due diligence, freedom to operate, portfolio analysis, strategic counseling, and opinions. Her clients include marketing companies, pharmaceutical companies, communications providers, software developers, theatre companies, licensees of software, patent holders across various industries, brand owners and artists. Her experience also includes trademark and patent prosecution matters, with an emphasis on materials science and mechanical devices.  

Prior to becoming an attorney, Darlene worked with corporate clients in the telecommunications industry for over a decade. She developed a deep understanding of network solutions, unit cost structure, and break-even points and net present values to assist clients with disaster recovery alternatives and cost savings. During this time, she also interacted with corporate counsel in structuring agent and end user agreements, and advised clients on filing complaints with the Public Service Commission.   

Darlene earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science Engineering, cum laude, and a Master of Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Rutgers University. She later earned a Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. District Courts Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
