AVILA Bets on Its Future, Elevates Two Partners to Equity Committee

As the firm prepares to celebrate its 15th year in business this August, Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Garro, LLP (AVILA) is optimistic about the future and committed to the success of its lawyers, elevating two partners to the equity committee.

AVILA announced the promotion of two partners, Maggie Barreto-Tercilla and Manny Rodriguez, to the firm’s equity committee.

Maggie is a partner in AVILA’s Real Estate, Zoning & Land Use practice. She joined the firm shortly after it was founded in 2007, and is the second woman to join AVILA’s equity committee. Her decades of legal practice, deep understanding of the South Florida real estate market, and unique perspective on foreign investment, have been instrumental in growing AVILA’s Real Estate practice. She represents investment companies, real estate developers, foreign investors, construction firms, and hospitality operators in a variety of complex transactions, financing, loan restructuring, and other real estate matters. She is also experienced in representing U.S. entities investing in foreign real estate and working with local counsel in various foreign jurisdictions where real estate rights may not be clearly contemplated under local legislation.

Manny joined AVILA’s Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions department after gaining significant corporate law experience at an AmLaw 100 firm. He quickly became a key asset in the practice, where he has spent over a decade counseling domestic and foreign clients in complex financing matters, as well as joint venture structures, and cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions. He has represented large investment firms, real estate developers, lenders, banks, hospitality groups, health care organizations, and all types of foreign investment entities looking to establish or invest in U.S. businesses.

“I am proud to have Maggie and Manny join the firm’s equity committee,” said Managing Partner Patricia Hernandez. “They are both talented lawyers in their individual practice, but it’s our shared vision for the future and relentless drive that give me tremendous confidence we will achieve what we set out to build from the beginning: a firm we are proud to call home, where clients and lawyers are happy, and where ‘Achieving Results, Together’ is more than a slogan, it’s our way forward.”
