AVILA Adds Noted Banking Corporate and Real Estate Lawyer Rene Murai as Partner

Law Firm Continues Strategic Hires in Response to Growing Client Demand

MIAMI – August 02, 2021 – Patricia M. Hernandez, Managing Partner of AVILA, today announced that Rene V. Murai has joined the firm as Partner. In this role, he will continue his focus on banking, corporate and commercial real estate matters.

Adding Murai is part of the firm’s 2021 initiative to make strategic hires for attorneys at all levels across its key areas of practice, Hernandez added.

Murai began private practice with the Corporate Department of New York law firm Willkie, Farr & Gallagher. Later in Miami, he co-founded Murai Wald Biondo & Moreno PLLC, where he practiced for many years. Over his career, he has served as General Counsel to numerous businesses, including several banks. He served as General Counsel and on the Board of Directors of Premier American Bank and Pan American Bank. His community involvement includes having served as Chairman of the Board of Miami Children’s Hospital and as Chair of a myriad of organizations, including: The Florida Bar Foundation; the University of Miami Citizens Board; Legal Services of Greater Miami; Mesa Redonda; and the Miami City Club, as well as a member of the University of Miami Board of Trustees. In addition, Murai has served on numerous boards of the City of Coral Gables.

Murai received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a law degree cum laude from Columbia University Law School, where he served as managing editor of the Columbia Law Review.
